A self-destructing note (also called a privnote or one-time secret) is a secure message that automatically deletes itself after being read once. Unlike regular messages sent via email or chat apps, these temporary notes provide an extra layer of security by ensuring the message cannot be accessed again after the first view.

How Does It Work?

When you create a private note on our platform, your message is encrypted using military-grade AES-256 encryption directly in your browser. The encryption key is embedded in the URL fragment (the part after #), which never reaches our servers. This means we have zero knowledge of your message content. Once the recipient opens the link and views the note, it's permanently deleted from our servers.
